So it's pretty apparent that you guys move much faster than I do, and that I also have a quite different perspective on all of those things, and it's almost impossible to connect with the action group as I'm not on any of the calls for various reasons, plus there's no legal permission for me to work with the material, which you can implicitly assume for yourself, plus I don't have physical access to obtain some of the material even if I would have the legal permission to work on it, plus there's little response on all the channels in discussing those matters, so I guess it's best if you continue to do the things you want to see on the website, that would already be of great help to point new people towards, so they can discover the material more easily and get an impression what the GCC and the conversations are about, which is very hard at the moment because videos are unlisted and scattered over several channels.

47:55 You know, with that particular example, "20180804 GCC Saturday Barn Raising Sam Day 3" (YouTube video ID "_q5U_2rlyF0"), I wrote comments on YouTube and copies on the Google Doc transcript as well, so are you going to copy them to the website as well, while I plan to additionally put them on my own site so I'm not dependent on Google/YouTube and can avoid losing them? What's the video embed and transcript copy supposed to do for the visitor? I also cleaned the transcript whereever I commented, and that was only possible on the Google Doc as YouTube subtitle submission needs to be turned on, so if I add a new comment, are I am supposed to not only clean up the transcript on the Google Doc, but also on WordPress? Would you get legal permission to distribute and work with my comments? I think that the changes I made to the transcript on the Google Doc aren't copyrightable, but that's only my layman's personal opinion, so to what extend are you willing to defend that you didn't already commit a copyright infringement if I would find a lawyer for this? Just asking... ;-)

1:03:58 No, it didn't say "fine", it said that the password complexity is fine, is strong, but not if the password is valid. Those are two different things.

1:03:47 Josh, I described this to you already on Sutra under "What does GCC want to accomplish" on the Tuesday, August 28 at 1:03 AM, the password field doesn't take certain special characters. Just alpha-numeric characters are fine.

1:03:22 I think both are seen by everyone - one might be the unique internal account name/ID, and the other is a nice, potentially ambigious display name.

58:07 What's the merging supposed to do? Sure, Aaron has an account there and doesn't want to start another identity somewhere else again, but why does any of this work need accounts anyway, it should be compiling lists and data to later go into/onto a website.

57:50 But then you still have to get the entire list from Google Spreadsheet into basecamp (manually!), just to check that no row/entry was missed, and that needs to happen first, before any Todo is started, because if everybody enters his own Todo's, then you have to compare back basecamp with the Google Spreadsheet to find out if an entry was overlooked, right?

54:48 I actually wonder a little how WordPress/MySQL performs with large texts as posts, how search and indexing etc. deals with that. Maybe they made sure that it isn't a problem, but transcripts of hours and hours of conversation might not be what WordPress is geared towards.

48:05 Oh my, the transcript obviously needs more work to function properly in a TimeBrowser fashion, and as of now, the Google Doc is bad, the transcript on/from YouTube is bad as well, now what's the point of creating another bad place for it on WordPress? The Google Docs are publicly accessible anyway, the YouTube transcript on the video too, and while I'm not sure yet if I would be able to automatically grab them from there, there's certainly the need to do that automatically in the future for new videos, which could work in the very same way for the old ones.

47:40 You can't do that because that requires watching all the videos, because people join and leave, and I've already started to watch all the videos and I'm not going to do it a second time if you continue to do things the way you do. It's fine as some kind of "entertainment", but there's also other entertainment and stuff to watch/listen to, so why invest all the effort of curation if the only benefit/ROI is to influence my brain/thinking, which already happened while listening to the recordings the first time and isn't needed a second time?
Comment Reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqOw1oDvuM0&lc=UgyJeypTSQe6_2zzweR4AaABAg
45:13 The video title as from YouTube should be authoritative, because the post won't contain much more besides of the video embed anyway. Sure, now you're entering data management problems that a decent system would organize better than website building with WordPress, for allowing different titles (source name, canonical name) or handling the date timestamp as something that can be part of the title, can be historically incorrect, but also defines (where correct or corrected) the order for sorting, etc.
Comment Reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqOw1oDvuM0&lc=UgwQtPDEtko0X60VikJ4AaABAg
44:36 So now you've made the WordPress site the more correct data collection, and the list in Google Spreadsheets is old/outdated as you probably didn't adjust the title there as well, so the WordPress site is the new master now to not repeat the same work later in the Spreadsheet or to miss important adjustments.

42:11 You know, that video embed already displays the video thumbnail as from YouTube, why can't it be smart enough to also use it as the featured image? Usually uploaders tend to already pick a good thumbnail on YouTube, and now you're screenshotting that very thumbnail manually.
Comment Reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqOw1oDvuM0&lc=Ugw9zvUNuwf3rCsc1Rp4AaABAg
41:40 If you do it like this and also use a category, maybe I can get the data easily enough, even if it's still a strange approach, but I won't complain if you do the work (in ways you're comfortable with, I guess, that seems to be the reason why some of my other projects don't want to get rid of WordPress).
Comment Reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqOw1oDvuM0&lc=UgyoZckBNFc-O0-sb9x4AaABAg
40:27 All that really matters is the video ID ("_q5U_2rlyF0" in that case). Shortcodes or browser URL address are pretty irrelevant, but one would want to avoid to copy long session information or settings from the browsers address bar, the share feature likely gets rid of that, so that's of easy help for people to get rid of unneeded stuff.
Comment Reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqOw1oDvuM0&lc=Ugxz2Y1nGHXUDjIh-Ax4AaABAg
35:43 Man, you're not only copying all the titles and links and what not manually into WordPress, but also into basecamp to delegate the tasks and to track the todo/progress? Instead of copying the title into basecamp, you could paste it into WordPress and the job would already be done, wouldn't it? And who knows if you can get that data ever out of basecamp again, or into it, automatically. It might be a collaboration/project management exercise, for the group to co-create practices.

35:02 The date would probably be an earlier one, wouldn't it? With removing it from the search, it wouldn't continue to match day 3 because of the date, but only find day 1 because that would be a match independent of the date.

33:33 To this day, I have no idea what basecamp actually does. One also can't see from the outside.

31:45 That sounds scary. Are you knowing what you're doing there? Those links and lists should end up in a nice data format to work from, otherwise you'll end up with a website, yes, but that would just be another data pile just as hard to use as it is now with Google services.
Comment Reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqOw1oDvuM0&lc=UgyIyzD1WC5bInnxMNx4AaABAg
31:32 Nah, even doing it manually is kind of OK, there is much worse curation work than this. It also has the advantage of once-solved, always-solved, you never have to do it a second time.
Comment Reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqOw1oDvuM0&lc=UgzEv8q9P-RVuyIJIch4AaABAg
31:11 If the dates are correct, that matching could be done automatically with a parser that puts the links into a combined table. Precondition is that the meeting note links are somehow extractable, and if the Google Drive doesn't support that, then that would be another mistake of using bad systems that need to be replaced.

30:14 That drive isn't publicly accessible anyway, so how would people access it without getting permission from Sam Hahn in advance?

29:21 Uuh, WordPress has several APIs, I wrote clients for that, need some setup but otherwise work fine, so why copy all 204 entries manually instead of just doing it automatically from the existing list (via CSV or whatever export)?
Comment Reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqOw1oDvuM0&lc=Ugy-4W01cTtbAL4hBZR4AaABAg
29:11 Maybe it makes more sense to do the organizing in/with the data, and just generate/query whatever lists people might want, but I guess that's not something readily available for you, so sure, with some effort, it probably can be done in WordPress as well.

26:05 I don't care much about websites for the browser and servers any more, I'm more looking at building a hypertext/hypermedia system. For audio along the lines of what was described by Sam Hahn and Frode Hegland as TimeBrowser, for video I had to abandon quite some online video sites already and need a better replacement, and sure, text. All of the good Doug Engelbart, Ted Nelson, Ward Cunningham, David Gelernter things. A non-web capability infrastructure.

22:05 The majority of the videos is set to "unlisted", you can only find them indirectly, or now via the list. If they're easily discoverable via the list and other mechanisms, why not set them to "public" anyway?
