2:20:21 I wonder if the introduction/promotion of copyright into the field of computing has cost more people their lives than Mr. Gates can ever rescue with his charity, if he's doing the latter for those reasons, and if he feels remorse for the unfair, criminal business practices he got away with, that crushed competitors, hopes and potential futures, etc. If one guy has a lot of money, that had have to come from somewhere, that's money other people don't have, and if the rich guy transfers it to poor regions of the planet while it otherwise would be stuck in many distributed pockets in the West, that's maybe a good thing, but then again, "robbing" it as some kind of enforced tax and the dependence on the goodwill of the rich guy instead of us doing the same via other ways, who knows what's "best".

2:09:55 Sutra, not everybody started to use it and then it doesn't branch well or to my knowledge doesn't have an administrative capability to move messages. It's not too bad, it notifies reliably about new posts, but some minor issues like the word-wrap problem makes reading harder than it has to be.

1:58:18 I'm also not on Facebook for similar reasons ;-) But yeah, I guess I'll get a number from one of you or from Zoom, and then guess the schedule or look it up somewhere, and then join with hopefully good enough telephone audio quality and not a too expensive phone bill. ;-) No worries, I guess it can get figured out.

1:55:50 I don't have any Windows any more for many years, and despite Zoom has a client for GNU/Linux, that probably wouldn't work because my distros are 100% libre-freely licensed ones, and even if it would work technically, then Zoom itself is proprietary, restrictively licensed software, which is exactly what I want to avoid, especially for basic capabilities for which libre-freely licensed alternatives are well established. What I can do sometimes is Google Meet or Hangout or Microsoft Skype when I lend a Windows that isn't my own and on which I can't (shouldn't) install applications, because those have a web version as even browsers nowadays can access the microphone and maybe camera to enable an audio/video call, and they allow me to join as guest so I don't need to register an account with those still proprietary services, that way is at least covered by open Internet standards. Zoom, to my awareness, can't or doesn't want to do it in an open or even libre-free way, but the good old telephone could work as well. I don't mind about being on camera, I can screencapture videos or with some preparation even do live-streams, but that again is something else than audio/video conferencing. But you guys also need to realize that audio/video calls can't scale, because available air time is linear, so a group can't scale exponentially without splitting up into several groups, and there is the difficulty with personal schedules and time zones and all of that, so non-real time communication channels offer some benefits that could be considered as well. Sure, I get it why everybody is in for voice calls, they're much easier/cheaper to produce, you just have to sit down and talk into the microphone, that requires little effort and less time than fiddling with other communication technology.

1:43:53 Yes, and then there are the Hells Angels who founded themselves because the obligation of wearing a helmet while driving a motorcycle was seen by these hippies as a restriction of their newly gained freedom by an oppressive state (until too much of their high-raking members died in accidents), and then gun control and Autobahn speed limits and banning smoking (or the advertising for it) and the war on drugs and prohibition in the US.

I think his question is if our reality is entirely simulated by "something"/"somebody" else.

1:02:18 With Gertraud asking, the German article for duck is feminin. Lucy didn't object and went to "get her".

2:20:00 They have problems of their own that make it not so easy.
