1:06:21 You're not reading on Sutra, are you? As you guys seem to be confused about this stuff, let's discuss, here's my intro: https://skreutzer.de/2018/08/26/on-complexity

1:00:29 Hmm, I think the problem is with creating the problems, and sure, you can say that they were created in an attempt to solve an earlier problem, but sometimes the problems weren't created that way, instead, they were created to "solve" the problem of how to make one guy really rich, or to "solve" the problem of how to continue and improve our lifestyle. What about that?

53:13 Who cares, groups vs. single genius, Engelbart vs. Nelson - this is on the computer, I don't see why we shouldn't support both.

43:35 Didn't Doug even have two big symposiums of his own? Weren't people listening in those or what? Also, some of Doug's descriptions were recorded, but it doesn't look like the GCC is much concerned about any of that. Thinking that his life's work has been a "failure" was probably less because people didn't listen or people didn't understand, it's probably more because complexity and problems keep increasing and we didn't even start on a exponential problem solving path, quite frankly, we don't even know yet if it can be exponential.

28:26 If that's the first or only thing that came out of this conversations, then it's great for the participants, but not much beyond, is it?

11:34 None of that will save the world, just saying...

1:08:04 How is it not an unintended consequence, if you clean your neighborhood and the trash you collected ends up being dumped into the ocean? And: how could any solution/fix look like, not clean the neighborhood? Just please don't tell me that the solution is supposed to be to create less trash, that problem is a systemic one and if you're the cleaning guy, it's usually others who throw their stuff into nature, and you usually don't own a supermarket or the whole production chain, and you could set up trash bins, but their trash as well might end up in the ocean, so what can you do? Burn or bury or ignore the trash, or educating children to not buy things with packaging later or throw that away, but what do you do about the older people, etc. etc.?
